Biography

Jolie Schafer is a graduate student pursuing her Ph.D. in immunology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on using immune cells called “natural killer” cells to develop possible treatments for leukemia. Schafer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both biology and biochemistry molecular biology from Houston Baptist University, where she was a captain for the division-1 volleyball team. She serves as president of the First Generation Student Association at her graduate school, as well as the president of the Immunology Graduate Student Program. She is passionate about serving others and is excited to learn how scientists can influence policy and government decision-making.
