Biography

Rob Kasten is pursuing a master's degree in mechanical engineering at The University of Texas at Austin as a member of the Webber Energy Group. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He attended the Hoover Institution Summer Policy Bootcamp with distinction for his policy proposal on dam removal in the Columbia River basin and the Environmental Economics Student Summit, hosted by the Property and Environment Research Center, in Bozeman, Montana. Kasten worked in the heavy trucking industry for Hyliion as a configuration manager in the systems engineering group. With these diverse experiences and engineering fundamentals, Kasten is interested in exploring how coal power plants could be retrofitted with hydrogen or small module reactor systems to accelerate the shift to renewable fuel sources on the grid.
