Ximena Gonzalez is a Gates Millennium Scholar at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Government and French with a minor in Nutrition. She has previously interned at the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice at the University of Texas Law School and the Institute of International Education in New York City. Ximena has participated in three study abroad programs in Italy, Switzerland, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. Throughout her three years at UT and her time abroad she has embarked on independent research in human rights, conditionality of aid, and public health. Ximena wishes to pursue a PhD in Public Health for Social Development and continue to work toward sustainable development. This fall she will be interning at the Social Office in the White House under the direction of Michelle Obama.
