Biography

Raised in La Grange, Texas, Carisa Nietsche is a Plan II Honors and Government student at the University of Texas at Austin. During her time on campus, Carisa served as the President of the Senate of College Councils where she represented students on over fifteen campus committees. Carisa has been an active volunteer in the Austin community through Orange Jackets (the oldest honorary women’s organization on campus), Kappa Delta Sorority, and as the vice-chair of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. At the end of her senior year, Carisa was one of twelve seniors recognized as a recipient of the Dean’s Dozen Award for her contributions to campus. Carisa is passionate about European Union politics, immigration policy, and education policy, and she is writing a thesis on the European Court of Justice’s role in immigration policy. Upon the completion of her degree in December, she hopes to get a Ph.D in Political Science.
