Mark Jbeily is a junior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Plan II Honors and minoring in Government and Arabic. Mark is also a Midshipman in the University of Texas Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and will commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy upon graduation. Mark's academic interests include civil-military relations, arms control, and security studies with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa. In the spring, Mark participated in the International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise hosted by the US Army War College examining issues in the South Caucasus region. Mark spent the summer of 2013 studying classical Arabic and North African dialects in Morocco after receiving a Project Global Officer scholarship from the Department of Defense National Security Education Program. As an Archer Fellow, Mark will be working in The White House Office of Cabinet Affairs.
