Biography

Luis Veloz's interest in policy started when his family was not able to pay medical bills because of a lack of health insurance, forcing Luis to leave school and take on a full-time job. Soon after, Luis became the head of a statewide healthcare campaign and made a national healthcare documentary with Univision. After graduating from community college, Luis interned for the mayor of Dallas and was named a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar, receiving one of the largest scholarships for Dallas Community College students. Luis is currently studying government at The University of Texas at Austin and plans to work in federal consulting.
