Ariela Gomez is a senior majoring in psychology with minors in chemistry and honors at The University of Texas at El Paso. She previously interned at State Senator José Rodríguez's (TX-29) district office and worked two years as an AVID tutor at Indian Ridge Middle School. On campus, she has been involved with the Student Government Association and the Medical Professions Organization. She is a member of UTEP's Liberal Arts Honors Program and her research experience includes two research assistantships with UTEP's Social Neuroscience Lab and the Systems Neuroscience Lab. Lastly, she volunteers biweekly at the El Paso Baptist Clinic – a clinic that provides free medical services to individuals without health insurance. Upon graduation, she plans to attend medical school and remain involved with policy.
