Biography
Nery Chavez is a senior global affairs major with a minor in anthropology at The University of Texas at San Antonio. At UTSA, Nery has served as the president of Texas Rising, a member of Model United Nations, and Sigma Iota Rho Honors Society. In San Antonio, Chavez also served as a congressional intern for U.S. House Representative Lloyd Doggett (TX-35), and an Issue Advocacy Fellow at MOVE Texas, where he engaged in city policy and state legislation around voting rights, immigration reform, LGBTQIA+ equity, and other progressive issues. After graduation, Nery plans to pursue policy work at the state, national, and/or international level.
