Junior Ezeonu is a senior studying political science at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was born in Nigeria and immigrated to the United States prior to his third birthday. In his work with Texans Can academies charter schools, Ezeonu learned firsthand from his students of the conditions that many underprivileged students face in their homes and communities. This propelled Ezeonu’s passion for policies targeting economic inequities, especially those inside communities of color. As a liberal arts senator for the UT Arlington Student Government, he has helped pass resolutions targeted at renaming campus buildings and increasing access to feminine hygiene products available on campus. Following graduation, Ezeonu plans to attend law school and eventually run for a congressional seat in his home district.
