Biography

Patricia Mathu is a junior Eugene McDermott Scholar at The University of Texas at Dallas pursuing a degree in history and a minor in geography. On campus, she writes for the university newspaper, The Mercury. She is interested in creative ways to leverage archaeology, storytelling, and education as bridges between the past and future, particularly in environmental fields. She studied human-landscape dynamics with the Center for American Archeology in Kampsville, Illinois, and paleoclimate proxies with Quest Laboratory in Reading, UK. Originally from Wisconsin, she enjoys volunteering at a Texas history and heritage museum, where she learns more about her new home.
