Edvin Morales is a first-generation college student and senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in government and Mexican American and Latina/o studies with a certificate in public policy. To work in solidarity with the immigrant community, Morales interned with the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services as a Children's Program legal intern and as a social services and outreach coordinator at AsylumConnect. Additionally, Morales has worked regularly with the City Hall of Friona as a community outreach and public policy intern to help address the needs of his hometown community. On campus, Morales has served in roles as co-director of community engagement for the Latinx Community Affairs organization, lead mentor for the Foundation Scholars Program, and member of Texas Blazers, an honorary service organization at UT Austin. Throughout college, Morales has been able to gain the knowledge and passion towards amplifying the voice of the immigrant community and finding ways of helping others. He plans to attend law school to focus on immigration law and policy.
