Biography

Virginia Macias is a senior at The University of Texas at El Paso majoring in biological sciences with a biomedical concentration. She established her career in healthcare by working as a patient care specialist at International Cardiovascular. As a student leader, she has served as a Miner Ambassador and a mentor for The Institute of Cardiology at El Paso. Through the MERITUS scholarship, Macias conducted research on cardiac tissue engineering. During the pandemic, she worked for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services as a Covid-19 case investigator. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in healthcare administration.
