Biography
Alejandro Barros is a Eugene McDermott Scholar and junior at The University of Texas at Dallas majoring in biology. On campus, Barros has conducted extensive research on using CRISPR as means to combat the dissemination of antibiotic resistance. Drawing from his love for medicine and the community, he has volunteered at Dr. Spot, a clinic that provides free pediatric care to low-income families. In the same endeavor, he has served on the leadership board of UTD Medlife, an international organization bringing healthcare to developing countries. Barros aspires to grow in his ability to serve others through medicine and policy. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in which he can serve his community through medicine.
