Laura Souto is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in public relations with a minor in global management and certificates in business Spanish and medical Spanish. She is a first-generation college student, Gilman International Scholar, and Texas Global Hutchinson Scholar. On campus, Souto served as president for the Diversity in Advertising and Public Relations student organization, vice president for UT Austin’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, a public relations account assistant for Texas Tower, and participated in Moody’s College of Communications Equity Council. She has been nominated as a finalist for the President’s Award for Global Learning, the Multicultural Advertising Internship Program, and the President’s Leadership Award. Off campus, Souto has interned with Sony Music Entertainment, Starcom Worldwide, and E4 Youth. Her roles as a bilingual research assistant for Project PODER and Project SEED strengthened Souto’s passion for multilingual resource access. After graduation, Souto hopes to pursue a career focused on expanding equitable resources and international business.
