Saul Armando Fontes is a senior at The University of Texas at El Paso majoring in Chicano studies with a minor in political science. He has worked as an undergraduate fellow with the Mellon Foundation-funded Humanities Collaborative at EPCC-UTEP and interned with the City of El Paso’s Planning Department. On campus, he served as an officer in M.E.Ch.A and volunteered for electoral campaigns and several other political organizations. His diverse set of interests revolve around public policy, housing, transportation, economic development, race and ethnicity, and other intersected fields of urban planning. After graduation, he intends to enroll in a master’s program in urban planning and pursue a career in making cities more accessible, equitable, and better for all.
