Austin Brooklyn Hemphill is a junior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in government with a minor in communication studies. On campus, Hemphill has been involved in Texas THON, Texas Tour Guides, ALDPES, and the FIG mentorship program. As an assistant for Dr. McDonald, she has studied the interwar period and analyzed militarized interstate dispute data for research disproving the democratic peace theory. Off campus, Hemphill has been on the Rob McCarthy campaign team and worked for the nonprofit Love Fosters Hope. After graduation, Hemphill wishes to pursue a legal career and advocate on behalf of children without a voice. Hemphill’s greatest aspiration is to start a nonprofit that fights against the practice of hoteling foster children.
