Emily Doan is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in government with a minor in sociology. Passionate about human rights and environmental policy, Doan has conducted research with UT Austin’s Innovations for Peace and Development Lab on global waste trade impacts on global south states and international dynamics regarding sustainability efforts. Additionally, Doan served as advocacy director for Change 1 Youth Services, an Austin-based nonprofit dedicated to helping foster care youth and is a member of UT Austin's pre-law honor society, Phi Delta Phi, and the Vietnamese Student Association. Off campus, Doan worked for Texas State Representative Jacey Jetton (HD-26) as a legislative aide during the 88th Legislative Session. There, she communicated with constituents and conducted policy research and analysis on health care and educational reform. Doan has also served as an intern for the Crimes against Children Division of the Fort Bend County District Attorney's office. Upon graduation, Doan plans to attend law school and pursue a legal career in human rights and environmental justice.
