Biography

Frida D. Garcia Ledezma is a senior at The University of Texas at El Paso majoring in geological sciences. Born and raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Garcia Ledezma later immigrated to El Paso, Texas, where she pursued her passions in environmental justice and space exploration. She has contributed to air and soil pollution research at the nonprofit organization La Mujer Obrera and conducted Mars-analog environment research at Johnson Space Center, where she investigated the correlation between agricultural soils, irrigation, and carbon dioxide production. After graduation, Garcia Ledezma plans to pursue a Ph.D. in geochemistry and aims to make meaningful contributions to the field and address pressing environmental issues.
