Sonya Swami is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in psychology with a pre-health professions certificate. Gathering experience in medical settings through hospital and hospice volunteering and as a medical assistant, Swami became passionate about exploring solutions for healthcare policy issues, such as drug pricing. While on campus, she has been the curriculum lead for the Campus Environmental Center’s Environmental Justice Collective and part of the UT Student Government Mental Health Agency. Swami is interested in neuropsychology and was a research assistant in the Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab and at the Dell Medical School Pediatric Epilepsy Center. After graduating, Swami plans to attend medical school and engage in public health and healthcare reform.
