Madelaine Carralero Costa is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a dual degree in neuroscience and sociology on the pre-medical track. On campus, Costa served as director of prospects for Delta Epsilon Mu, a professional pre-health fraternity, and worked as an undergraduate research assistant in the Jones Behavioral Science Lab, contributing to research on ischemic stroke rehabilitation in mice. Professionally, Costa worked as a newborn hearing screener with Pediatrix Neonatology of Texas at Dell Children’s Medical Center and Ascension Seton Northwest, supporting early hearing intervention efforts for newborn patients and their families. She also served as a research assistant in the Lozano-Calderón Orthopaedic Oncology Research Group at Massachusetts General Hospital, contributing to clinical orthopaedic oncology research. Costa is passionate about healthcare policy, health equity, and translational medical research, and plans to pursue a career as a physician.
