Laura is senior at the University of Texas at Austin double majoring in Government and Psychology and pursuing an interdisciplinary certificate in the Ethics and Leadership of Politics, Law, and Social Justice through the Bridging Disciplines Program. During her time at UT, she has embarked on her own research about the Merida Initiative, the drug war in Mexico, and on domestic poverty issues affecting the development of children. Laura has worked as a peer advisor for the Undergraduate Psychology Department, as a senior legal assistant at the Martinez Jones Law Firm, and as a fitness instructor for UT RecSports. Laura will intern at the Center for American Progress with the Half in Ten campaign, which is dedicated to work with multiple organizations to help cut America’s poverty in half in ten years.
