Stephanie Lopez was born and raised along the US/Mexico border and is currently is a junior at the University of Texas at El Paso majoring in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. Stephanie has always had a strong commitment to public service and at a very early age she discovered a passion for helping the less fortunate. In particular, she fights for the rights of children and immigrants. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate, Stephanie has represented children who have been abused or neglected and now find themselves caught in the middle of intimidating court proceedings. She also volunteers with the El Paso Bar Association by assisting attorneys during legal clinics for United States Veterans. Stephanie is also a volunteer with the El Paso Child Crisis Center and the Salvation Army and she is a member of Alpha Xi Delta Women’s sorority where she takes part in various philanthropy events benefiting Autism Speaks, the world’s largest autism advocacy organization. She has also participated in the Law School Preparation Institute at UTEP. Upon graduation, Stephanie plans on pursuing a law degree and becoming an immigration attorney.
