Biography
Garrett Riou is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Social Work. In his time as an undergraduate, Garrett has taken up diverse opportunities for leadership. He has served as an Orientation Advisor for new students, a Peers for Pride advocate for LGBTQ rights on campus, and as Vice President of his fraternity. Garrett also volunteered in after school programs with children living under the poverty line, and at Austin's largest rehabilitation center. Garrett hopes to gain more experience in advocacy while interning in the LGBT division of the Center for American Progress and afterwards would like to continue working for LGBTQ and socio-economic rights.
