Biography

Melina is a senior psychology major at The University of Texas at San Antonio. As an undergraduate researcher, her work has focused on the development of measures for suicide risk, depression, and anxiety. She is the founder and president of the UTSA chapter of Active Minds, a national non-profit organization for mental health awareness and suicide prevention on college campuses. She also serves on the national Student Advisory Committee for Active Minds, and as Director of the Student Health Advisory Committee with the UTSA Student Government Association. When she is not studying or sleeping, Melina enjoys trying out new restaurants, discovering new music, writing poetry, and spending time with family and friends.
