Sebastian De Beurs is a Plan II Honors and government student at The University of Texas at Austin. He was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina to an American mother and Dutch father. At age one, his family moved to Amsterdam. De Beurs attended an international school, citing that the diverse cultures, languages and stories of his peers instilled a deep respect for different people. At age 17, he moved back to the United States and settled in Texas. De Beurs is a Next Generation Scholar at the Strauss Center for International Law and previously interned at the U.S. Department of State. De Beurs hopes to pursue a career in international development focused on inclusive economic growth in Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He speaks Dutch, as well as some French, German and Afrikaans.
