J. Daniel Caballero studies sociology and Arabic at The University of Texas at Austin. While studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, he had the opportunity to serve the Athlone community by working with the local YMCA-Health, where he observed the political implications of healthcare in a post-apartheid society and the inequalities that persist worldwide. On campus, he has worked for the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement to serve underrepresented and marginalized students. Caballero has served a resident assistant and a member in the University Chorus. Additionally, he was an undergraduate member of a finalist team for the President's Award for Global Learning. Following his time on the 40 Acres, he will attend law school and pursue a career focused on social justice.
