Malissa Owen is majoring in neuroscience at The University of Texas at Dallas as a member of the Collegium V Honors Program. She has dedicated her time as a research assistant on campus for potential PTSD treatments, logged numerous hours interacting with patients for medical studies as a part of the Texas Emergency Medicine Research Associates Program, and personally lobbied congressmen and staff members for climate change legislation. Over the past year, she worked as an intern in local schools to increase academic self-efficacy and a sense of belonging for young adults in the community. Passionate about public health and the importance of balancing both physical and mental health, she hopes to apply these beliefs and practices in the future as a physician.
