Biography
Emerald Belmarez is a senior at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley majoring in political science. On campus, she is a student leader and current member and organizer for Texas Rising. She has established herself as an organizer who devotes her time to informing her community on the electoral process, social justice issues, and increasing civic engagement with young people. Previously, she interned for U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15). Belmarez is passionate about serving the underprivileged while advocating for legislation beneficial for all, including the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in the Rio Grande Valley. Upon graduation, she intends to attend law school and pursue a career in law and advocacy.
