Ileen Montemayor is a first-generation college student at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where she received the Top Scholars Scholarship. She is double majoring in sociology and politics and law and minoring in civic engagement. Montemayor plans to become a lawyer and work with her communities on immigration, disability, and civil rights. She has volunteered with The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services and La Posada Providencia to help local immigrant communities and to prepare taxes for low-income individuals. Additionally, Montemayor has pushed for healthcare and justice for all through participating at PERIOD at UTSA, an organization that provides menstrual products for those experiencing poverty, and by volunteering with Feminists for Intersectionality, Revolution, and Equity.
