Karla Madrigal is a junior majoring in biology at The University of Texas at San Antonio where she is a current Terry Scholar, Honors Student, and Ms. UTSA 2019-2020. She is the founding president of the Community Support Team at UTSA, an organization to assist students in obtaining low-cost certifications and training in various fields. Madrigal has participated in immunology research, studied abroad in Costa Rica and Japan, and co-launched a mental health campaign on campus and throughout the community, which she presented at the International Leadership Conference for HOSA-Future Health Professionals. From volunteering at various charity clinics and a local migrant resource center, Madrigal has found a passion for advocating for health care access and is eager to learn more about health care policy while in Washington, D.C.
