Biography

Gayle Haven is a junior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in political communication studies with a minor in social work. Haven has a passion for being involved in her Austin community and her campus community. Haven served as a dedicated officer for the International Association of Business Communicators student charter. She was also a member of the Minority Women Pursuing Law organization and a member of the Council of Equity. She has worked for many non-profit organizations around the Austin area, including BookSpring and Art Spark Texas. She has also worked as a mentor for the Moody College of Communication Success Scholar program. During the recent presidential election, she volunteered her time with the League of Women Voters, a nationally recognized non-partisan organization. As a UT Austin student, she hopes to diversify her cultural awareness and knowledge through her personal experiences. After graduation, she plans to attend law school and pursue a legal career. She hopes to become a public defender and work for underrepresented individuals in struggling communities.
