Biography

Jana Elawar is a junior at The University of Texas at Austin, double-majoring in public health and psychology with a minor in healthcare reform and innovation. Serving as a teaching assistant for Healthcare Law and Policy in the McCombs School of Business, Elawar supported course instruction and mentored students in understanding healthcare law and policy frameworks. Grounding her interest in health systems in clinical experience, Elawar’s internship and surgical observer role at the Center for Reproductive Endocrinology provided her with insight into patient care and the barriers to treatment access. On campus, Elawar is a founding member and Mentorship Chair of Women in Global Affairs and serves on the Student Health Advisory Committee, collaborating with University Health Services to shape outreach initiatives and improve student access to health resources. In a grassroots consulting role, Elawar developed an outreach plan for the Neighbors to Neighbors initiative, bridging UT student organizations with community volunteer needs to strengthen engagement and expand product donations. After graduation, Elawar plans to pursue a career in healthcare law and administration, focused on designing policy solutions that strengthen insurance access and improve care navigation.
